I cannot believe that we are already over halfway done with this NFL season. It has flown by! Our jostling atop the season-long leaderboard continues as the experts got back on track in Week 9. We have a new leader in the clubhouse as Rotowire took the lead and last week’s leader GoingFor2 slid down to the #3 slot. We are jammed tight among the top experts for the season and it’s going to go down to the wire! As always, you can see how all the experts are doing by checking out NFL Expert Standings.

On to the Week 9 grades, class is in session!

Consensus Recap – Week 9

Not as many as last week but still a lot of picks from the Consensus in Week 9! Forty-seven in total brought home a tie for 11th place finish and a really, really solid Daily Overlay score of 4.11. A bit of a bookend week with 13 “A+” scores and 11 failing grades. A position-by-position breakdown is below.

QB (Score: 4.25 / Rank 15th out of 21) – A nice week from the experts at the QB spot as a 4.25 score only got the Consensus to 15th place. The highlights were “A+” grades from Dak Prescott and Jared Goff.

RB (Score: 2.09 / Rank 12th out of 21) – Not near as good as last week but still a middle-of-the-road finish in 12th place. No “A+” grades at the position and four of the eleven finished in the failing category.

WR (Score: 2.86 / Rank 14th out of 21) – A much better score but much lower positional finish. The experts got back on track a bit at the WR spot. Highlighted by TY Hilton and Doug Baldwin with “A+” grades.

TE (Score: 6.14 / Rank 11th out of 19) – The experts had a great week at TE, if you couldn’t already tell from a 6.14 finishing outside the top-10 at the position. Four of the seven Consensus plays scored “A+” grades (Doyle, Kelce, Davis, Engram).

D/ST (Score: 7.57 / Rank 10th out of 20) – A solid week with five of the seven plays scoring “A+” grades (Jags, Rams, Texans, Seahawks, Colts).

Head of the Class – Week 9

Each week I will highlight a few of the top experts for the week. Here are the experts that deserve a “gold star” for Week 9 based on their cumulative grades for all players they touted this week.

#1) ProFootballFocus (Score: 5.65) found the top of the weekly leaderboard in Week 9. Ten of their 17 plays scored an “A” or better including seven “A+” grades from Prescott, Hilton, Doyle, Kelce, Jags D/ST, Texans D/ST and Rams D/ST.

#2) FantasyGuruElite (Score: 5.42) put forth their best week yet. Thirteen of their 24 selections scored “A” or better including nine “A+” grades from Prescott, Baldwin, Kelce, Doyle, Davis, Jags D/ST, Rams D/ST Seahawks D/ST and Cardinals D/ST.

#3) FantasyLabs (Score: 5.13) took the final spot in the top-3 for the week. Eight of their 16 plays scored an “A” or better including seven “A+” scores from Prescott, Kelce, Doyle, Bejamin Watson, Jags D/ST, Texans D/ST and Cardinals D/ST. FantasyLabs was one of only two experts to play Benjamin Watson and his “A+” score.

Top Value – Rotoballer (3.24 DK Pts/$1000) took the “Top Value” title this week.

Head of the Class – Week 9 (By Position)

Sometimes there is just that one class that you excel in. In this section, I will highlight who the top experts were at each position for Week 9.

QB – DailyFantasyNerd, Rotowire, GoingFor2 (10.00) all played Dak Prescott for their lone QB plays.

RB – DailyFantasySportsRankings, Rotoballer (5.00) tied atop the RB list. DFSR made three total selections while Rotoballer made one.

WR – RotoGrinders Lineup Builder (7.00) utilized “A+” grades from TY Hilton and Doug Baldwin to top the WR list.

TE – Five Tied (10.00) with perfect scores at TE. This position was the spot where the experts cleaned house this week.

DST – Five Tied (10.00) with perfect scores at D/ST, also.

Study Time – Week 9

If we are going to give a gold star to the top experts of the week, we also need to determine which experts might need to put in some extra study time to pull up those grades. Here are the Week 9 experts that didn’t make the grade this week.

  • DK Playbook (Score: 2.42) didn’t have the worst week ever…they just got overrun by the solid weeks by other experts.
  • Sportsline (Score: 2.11) was on the bottom rung, though this score doesn’t put you in the bottom-2 very often.

Extra Credit – Week 9

In this section, I will look to give some extra credit to experts that received an A+ grade for a player where they were the lone expert to recommend. This week there were no players that scored an “A+” that were selected by only one expert so I expanded it to two experts. Week 9 extra credit goes to the following:

A+ – Alvin Kamara (Daily Overlay – Hot Sheet, DailyFantasySportsRankings)
A+ – Benjamin Watson (FantasyPros, FantasyLabs)

Head of the Class – Season

Here are the top experts in the Overall Standings after Week 9 of the season, including which site has provided the top DraftKings points per $1000 of salary. We had a slight shakeup at the top this week.

#1) Rotowire (Score: 3.84) saw the slighted jump in score vault them into the 1st place slot after Week 9. If the back and forth these last few weeks is any indication, the season-long standings are going to go down to the wire.

#2) FantasyTeamAdvice (Score: 3.81) took a jump up the leaderboard with a .17 gain in score. That directly counteracts their .17 drop in score last week.

#3) GoingFor2 (Score: 3.74) took a small .07 slide in the overall standings. However, with as close as things are, a small step will knock you two spots back in the standings.

#4) Daily Overlay – Value Index (Score: 3.66) made a small .05 gain in score and a one spot jump in standing. Stephen will look to continue his ride up the standings this week.

#5) RotoGrinders Lineup Builder (Score: 3.63) finds themselves alone in 5th place this week after a tie last week. RGLB jumped their score a minuscule .02 for the week.

Top Value – DK Playbook (2.94 DK Pts/$1000)

The DailyOverlay Industry Consensus jumped up one spot to 16th place in the overall standings out of 21 experts.
