Friday features a big 14-game MLB slate that is void of any high-priced stud pitching options. So, we’ll look to stock up on some stacks while grabbing a couple mid-priced value arms in today’s “On the Hill”. Have a great weekend!

Let’s mow down the competition 3 Up and 3 Down…

3 Up

Ace

Dallas Keuchel (FD-$8,600 / DK-$8,400)
With a lack of strikeout aces on Friday’s slate, my focus has turned to rostering value pitchers who can pitch deep into the game while giving up limited damage and are in a good spot to pick up a win. As such I have listed three pitchers who are all similarly priced that meet those criteria. Keuchel comes in as my “Ace” since he is the biggest Vegas favorite on the slate and has had success against the Royals in his career allowing just a .235 wOBA with a decent 21.9% strikeout rate in 110 plate appearances.

Value

Steven Wright (FD-$7,000 / DK-$8,500)
Since joining the Red Sox rotation, Wright has allowed just one run over 20 2/3 innings while striking out 15 hitters. He just pitched against tonight’s opponent, the Mariners, allowing just one run in seven innings and during his career, he has allowed just a .231 wOBA in 45 career plate appearances against Mariners hitters. Wright is road favorite should also be able to pitch deep into the game with a good shot at a win.

Darkhorse

Jose Quintana (FD-$8,200 / DK-$8,600)
Quintana is the riskiest of the trio, thus the Darkhorse recommendation. He’ll face a Reds team that has been swinging well lately during the four-game winning streak and hits lefties well in general. The reasoning behind liking Quintana has to do with his past success against Reds hitters who have only mustered a .261 wOBA against the lefty with a 27.0% strikeout rate in 63 career plate appearances. Only consider Quintana in GPPs.

3 Down

Top Stacks

Rockies vs. Wei-Yin Chen
Yeah, I know the Rockies will be very chalky playing at home facing lefty Wei-Yin Chen. However, with no clear-cut pitching options to use we can diversify our lineup at pitcher with a couple mid-range options and fit in some Rockies hitters. Chen has allowed a .460 wOBA and 2.79 HR/9 on the road against righties this season.

Nolan Arenado (FD-$5,100 / DK-$5,900) – Arenado has homered in three straight games and has a huge .583 wOBA and .500 ISO at home against lefties this season.
Trevor Story (FD-$4,400 / DK-$5,700) – Story has an insane .656 wOBA and .658 ISO at home against lefties this season.
Ian Desmond (FD-$4,100 / DK-$4,900) – Desmond has a .431 wOBA and .331 ISO at home against lefties this year.
DJ LeMahieu (FD-$4,100 / DK-$4,800) – LaMahieu has five hits over his last two games and has posted a .433 wOBA and .258 ISO against lefties this season.

Angels vs. Marco Estrada
As you probably know, Estrada allows a lot of fly balls and has some reverse-splits which feed right into the Angels best hitters. Estrada has allowed a .375 wOBA and 2.11 HR/9 to righties along with a 56.3% fly ball rate.

Mike Trout (FD-$5,300 / DK-$6,000) – Trout is 4-for-10 with two homers off Estrada in his career.
Justin Upton (FD-$3,500 / DK-$4,500) – Upton is 4-for-7 with a pair of doubles off Estrada in his career.
Ian Kinsler (FD-$3,200 / DK-$3,900) – Kinsler has been hot this month with a .352 wOBA and .316 ISO.
Andrelton Simmons (FD-$2,800 / DK-$3,400) – Simmons is 6-for-12 with two extra-base hits off Estrada in his career.

Contrarian Stack

Twins vs. Mike Minor
With the higher salaries of my first two stacks, we need some salary relief with my Contrarian stack which the Twins bring. They will face lefty Mike Minor who has been worse on the road (8.14 ERA / .400 wOBA) than at home this season and has been lit up by righties who have a .362 wOBA and 1.64 HR/9 on the season against him.

Brian Dozier (FD-$3,400 / DK-$3,600) – Dozier could be heating up with three doubles in his last two games.
Ehire Adrianza (FD-$2,300 / DK-$3,100) – Adrianza has a .364 wOBA against lefties this season with most of the damage coming at home.
Robbie Grossman (FD-$2,500 / DK-$3,000) – Grossman hit in the leadoff spot against a lefty on Wednesday and homered.
Max Kepler (FD-$2,400 / DK-$3,200) – Kepler hits lefties better than righties with a .404 wOBA and .319 ISO against southpaws.
