My Tyler Duffey call came through on Wednesday as he posted 14.7 DraftKings points for only a $4,000 salary, while Marco Estrada and Johnny Cueto were also strong plays. Tonight we have a full 15-game slate of MLB action including a lot of pitchers that I like even beyond the main four I will comment on below. Check out my “others to consider” to see a few additional options for tonight.
Ace
Noah Syndergaard (FD-$10,200 / DK-$11,200)
Two of the highest priced pitchers square off tonight with Syndergaard facing Justin Verlander. I prefer Syndergaard in this matchup as I feel he offers a higher floor and higher upside. The Tigers strikeout 21.4% against righties this season, while Syndergaard has a 30.1% K-rate. Syndergaard is a good Cash and GPP option.
Value
Jon Lester (FD-$10,100 / DK-$9,600)
Lester is a huge favorite tonight pitching against the Athletics and their rookie pitcher Dillon Overton. He doesn’t have as much strikeout upside as Syndergaard as the A’s only strikeout 17.4% against lefties this season but should be able to limit the damage and pick up a win. Lester is especially a solid Cash game option on DraftKings priced $1,600 less than Syndergaard and $4,000 less than Verlander.
Blake Snell (FD-$7,900 / DK-$8,700)
Tonight matchup between Snell and the Twins will be a battle of two hot forces that are both running hot. Snell has had four straight solid starts with a 2.25 ERA and 10.88 K/9 and will face a Twins’ team that has the highest wRC+ (142) over the last 14 days. However, for the season, the Twins strikeout 23.1% (8th worst) against lefties. Snell is a good GPP option and potential Cash game option on two-pitcher sites.
Darkhorse
Francisco Liriano (FD-$7,800 / DK-$7,100)
I have a feeling that the change of scenery will be good for Liriano even though he is moving to the American League and a hitter’s park. Tonight Liriano will look to make a good first impression pitching in a pitcher-friendly park in Kansas City against a Royals’ offense that has been terrible recently with a league-worst wRC+ (51) and increased strikeout rate (22.5%). Liriano is my favorite off the radar GPP option tonight.
