DARK HORSE BAT OF THE DAY

Brian Anderson – He has hits in his last three days and he is up against a rookie lefty in hitter friendly SunTrust. Anderson is the top hitter from the Marlins against lefties and hits at the top of the order on the road tonight. You can get him easily with your last pick of the draft in the outfielder.

3-4-5 Man Contests

The Strat: There are 4-5 clear-cut options for your first pick in all of these formats – Mookie Betts, Mike Trout, Jose Ramirez, Francisco Lindor and Trevor Bauer. Honestly, I have no issue with taking Bauer with your first pick. Pitching is very weak and he’s clearly the safest option on the board. You can figure out bats later if you need. One bat I will have in all formats and take early is Manny Machado. He’s going later than he should, is on fire, facing a lefty who he has had some success against. Outfield is the weakest position on the board, so trying to take Betts or Trout first also makes a lot of sense here. I have been able to get Rhys Hoskins really late in drafts and Matt Kemp, too. I won’t argue against any Diamondbacks against Bartolo Colon today. The Red Sox do scare me because Jake Arrieta is tough against righties and doesn’t allow a lot of hard contact.

6-Man Contests

The Strat: This is the format I will consider stacking more often and I really like Machado and Kemp tonight, so I will be targeting them after my first pick, which will be a bit of a wash out of the players I listed in the top-2 of all positions. Charlie Morton is going undervalued today so I don’t feel like I need to take Trevor Bauer here and can load up on bats first. If I don’t get Morton, I am waiting until my last pick to take Cahill or Taillon. Other stacks to consider here – Diamondbacks, Rangers, Braves and Yankees.
