Trade deadline day was busy this year with a lot of deals made. Be sure to watch lineups closely tonight as some of the teams that made deals could have a surprise or two in their lineups. Apparently, I did jinx Stephen and his FantasyDraft lineups on Friday (sorry, man) but I have no doubt he will get back to his winning ways.

Here is a list of the “rules” we are following when constructing lineups:

  1. We will make two separate lineups for each site (FanDuel and DraftKings), one for Cash games and one for GPP tournaments.
  2. For Cash games, we will build the core of our lineup from the Consensus list using any player listed regardless of what tier they are in and will be allowed to choose 1 player that is not on the Consensus list that we consider to be a good play.
  3. For GPP games, we are allowed to choose up to add 2-3 players that are not on the Consensus list to help complete a hitter stack or we consider to be a good play.
  4. We can modify any lineup as we see fit for any late-breaking lineup news that opens up good options even if they are not on the Consensus list.

As always be sure to check for late-breaking news regarding weather and lineups.

Entrant – Matt – FanDuel

Cash Game Lineup

fd50508.1

Cash Narrative – Chris Archer didn’t get traded today. I’ll play him against a Royals lineup that doesn’t strike out a lot but also doesn’t scare me much.

GPP Lineup

 fdgpp8.1

GPP Narrative – Jimmy Nelson burned me last week so I’m going to let him do it again. A healthy stack of Blue Jays in Houston and a short stack of Indians.

Entrant – Brad- DraftKings

Cash Game Lineup

Cash

Cash Narrative – I wanted to pay up for pitching in my Cash game lineup tonight so I grabbed Strasburg and paired him with Hendricks who I like more in Cash games than GPPs tonight. I grabbed value bats from the Consensus list at every position and took one off the board play with Franklin Gutierrez against a lefty.

GPP Lineup

GPP

GPP Narrative – I went with CC Sabathia has my Darkhorse pitcher recommendation in my “On the Hill” article today but I’m going to flip the script by using four cheap Mets bats in my GPP lineup including Consensus plays (Flores/d’Arnaud) and off the board plays (Walker/Ruggiano). Not sure how motivated the Yankees will be after they were big “sellers” at the trade deadline. By grabbing a cheap Mets stack I was able to load up with the rest of my hitters all coming from the Consensus list. On the pitching side, I am going with Archer as a high upside option and Nelson who I personally don’t love today but the Consensus sure does so I’ll give him a try.

Entrant – Stephen- FantasyDraft

Cash Game Lineup

Cash

Cash Narrative – I don’t fault Brad for jinxing me Friday, rather the consequences fall to the perpetrator and that was me. I put out paltry lineups Friday, but we are back at it today post trade deadline. Barney fills in for the scratched Josh Donaldson and Rasmus is my one off-the-board play (though I think he’s more of a cash-game play). I don’t think Stras meets value tonight (reverse jinx, get him in your lineups!) so I am hoping Salazar and my favorite play of the evening, Chris Archer, are stronger cash-game plays.

GPP Lineup

GPP

GPP Narrative – Adam Conley has been Brad’s boy, but he has regression coming and I think it might happen tonight against the Cubs. Therefore, I am following Brad’s nose with Hendricks pitching deep into tonight’s game with that long, late, extra-inning affair. Russell is my off-the-board play along with Jimmy Nelson???? Yea, I am going to play the narrative that Jimmy can make it work and get those Ks while limiting the damage against the Padres. Baez is my play as a sub for Zobrist. Cruz is up against an awful lefty, he’s my favorite play of the night.
