Week 14 featured a full slate on Sunday, which was the first time we’ve seen that in awhile due to byes. It will be short-lived, too. The next two Saturdays feature a couple of games each so we’ll have watered down Sunday lineups. As for Week 14, we saw some highs and lows. There were a few positions where the experts hit the nail on the head; however, there were a couple where the experts where the bug and not the windshield. Things tightened up a bit in our season-long standings but it’s still going to take a collapse from Rotowire to not lead the pack when the year is done. As always, you can see how all the experts are doing by checking out NFL Expert Standings.

Be sure to come back each week for a review of the Industry Consensus picks highlighting the top (and bottom) grades for the week and season from the experts we are tracking. For Week 14 we tracked and graded 20 sets of expert picks including the Industry Consensus list.

On to the Week 14 grades, class is in session!

Consensus Recap – Week 14

The Consensus came through with fifty-one total picks for a 17th place finish and a Daily Overlay score of 2.41. Twenty-two of those picks finished with a failing grade while only six had “A+” scores. A position-by-position breakdown is below.

QB (Score: 2.89 / Rank 13th out of 20) – Nothing too flashy at the QB spot but not terrible either. An “A+” from Dak Prescott and “A” from Philip Rivers helped boost the Consensus score.

RB (Score: 3.78 / Rank 15th out of 20) – Good score, bad standings finish as the experts had a nice week at the position. Two “A+” scores from Giovani Bernard, the overwhelming Consensus play for the week, and Theo Riddick were key.

WR (Score: 2.60 / Rank 15th out of 20) – A similar score to last week but ten spots lower in the weekly standings at the WR position. Seven of the 15 plays scored failing grades while “A+” scores from DeAndre Hopkins and Demaryius Thomas were the bright spots.

TE (Score: 1.00 / Rank 11th out of 20) – Holy moly, what a crapper week for the experts at the TE position. When a 1.0 can almost get you in the top half of the standings, that means things were baaaaaad.

D/ST (Score: 1.75 / Rank 6th out of 17) – Five of the seven Consensus plays finished with a failing grade. Without the “A+” from the Broncos it would have been a really ugly week.

Head of the Class – Week 14

Each week I will highlight a few of the top experts for the week. Here are the experts that deserve a “gold star” for Week 14 based on their cumulative grades for all players they touted this week.

#1) DailyFantasyNerd (Score: 4.22) found themselves inside the top-3 once again this week. Four of DFN’s nine plays scored an “A” or better including “A+” grades from Giovani Bernard and Demaryius Thomas.

#2A) Rotoballer (Score: 4.13) scored three “A+” grades out of eight total plays to position themselves well in Week 14. The “A+” grades came from Bernard, Theo Riddick and Cooper Kupp. They were the only site to play Cooper Kupp.

#2B) GoingFor2 (Score: 4.13) got back on track with a top-3 finish in Week 14. Three of their eight plays finished “A” or better including “A+” grades from Bernard and DeAndre Hopkins.

Top Value – GoingFor2 (3.18 DK Pts/$1000) took the “Top Value” title this week.

Head of the Class – Week 14 (By Position)

Sometimes there is just that one class that you excel in. In this section, I will highlight who the top experts were at each position for Week 14.

QB – FantasyTeamAdvice (5.33) received an “A+” from Dak Prescott, an “A” from Philip Rivers and a “D” from Jameis Winston on their way to the top of the list.

RB – FantasyLabs, Rotoballer (10.00) both play Bernard and Riddick to top the experts with perfect scores.

WR – Rotoballer (6.00) rode an “A+” from Cooper Kupp and “C” from Michael Crabtree to win the WR spot for the week. Rotoballer was the only expert site on Cooper Kupp and his “A+” score.

TE – RotoGrinders Lineup Builder (3.00) didn’t score very well but still topped the list. A “B” grade from their lone selection, Travis Kelce, got the job done.

DST – DK Playbook (7.50) played the Lions and Bears to score an “A+” and “A”, respectively. They were the lone site to recommend the Lions D/ST.

Study Time – Week 14

If we are going to give a gold star to the top experts of the week, we also need to determine which experts might need to put in some extra study time to pull up those grades. Here are the Week 14 experts that didn’t make the grade this week.

  • Rotowire (Score: 2.13) scored a “D” or worse on half of their eight plays including three failing grades.
  • RotoGrinders Consensus (Score: 2.00) racked up eleven failing grades from their 28 selections.

Extra Credit – Week 14

In this section, I will look to give some extra credit to experts that received an A+ grade for a player where they were the lone expert to recommend. Week 14 extra credit goes to the following:

A+ – Jordan Howard (Fantasy Alarm)
A+ – Cooper Kupp (Rotoballer)
A+ – Dede Westbrook (DK Playbook)
A+ – Lions D/ST (DK Playbook)
