I really like Tuesday’s 15-game slate. There are so many quality stacking options on the slate that I had a hard time narrowing it down to three. Others that I like that aren’t listed are the Blue Jays, Indians and Cardinals. On the pitching side, there is only one Ace option and he is worth paying up for especially on two-pitcher sites with all of the great value pitching options to choose from. Let’s get started…

Let’s mow down the competition 3 Up and 3 Down…

3 Up

Ace

Chris Sale (FD-$11,700 / DK-$13,200)
Sale is by far my top-rated pitching option tonight; it is not even close. He will face the Royals who rank 25th in wRC+ (83) and 20th in wOBA (.301) against lefties this season. While they don’t strikeout a lot, Sale is still capable of posting double-digit strikeouts against anyone. As a big road favorite, he should be in line for a quality start and a win. Sale is a lock for my Cash games lineups tonight due to his high floor but you can definitely fade him in GPPs.

Value

Mike Montgomery (FD-$7,300 / DK-$5,500)
Montgomery has been increasing his pitch count over his last two starts up to 88 pitches in five innings during his last outing. He should be able to top out around 100 pitches for Tuesday’s juicy matchup with the Padres. The Padres have struck out 24.6% (6th highest) against lefties this season and are last in wOBA and wRC+ this season versus southpaws. Montgomery is a big favorite pitching at home which makes him safe enough for Cash games on two-pitcher sites. He is also a solid GPP option.

Darkhorse

Francis Martes (FD-$6,500 / DK-$5,800)
I strongly considered Brandon McCarthy for both this spot and the Value play spot for tonight but I have some hesitation due to a tough matchup with the Mets left-handed bats despite him coming in as a huge favorite at home. So, instead, I am going with Martes as my Darkhorse pick. Martes pitched well in his first big league start throwing five innings with seven strikeouts while allowing one run against the Rangers. He gets a favorable matchup with the A’s on Tuesday in a pitcher-friendly ballpark in Oakland. Martes has strikeout upside facing an A’s team that has struck out 25% (3rd highest) versus righties this season. Martes has also shown good strikeout potential with over a 23% strikeout rate in the minors the last three seasons. He is only a GPP option but could be an interesting pairing with Montgomery to allow you to get every bat you want on two-pitcher sites.

3 Down

Top Stacks

Yankees vs. Parker Bridwell
Bridwell put together a quality start in his first big league outing against the Braves allowing three runs in six innings while striking out four batters. He made a relief appearance against tonight’s opponent, the Yankees, last week and did not allow a run in 3 2/3 innings. However, he did allow seven hits and a 35.7% hard hit rate. That was also in Anaheim instead of New York where Tuesday’s matchup will occur. The Yankees cooled off on their West Coast road trip but a return home will instill confidence and a hitter-friendly environment for the Yankees’ bats.

Aaron Judge (FD-$4,700 / DK-$5,400) – Judge has a .561 wOBA and .537 ISO at home versus righties this season.
Gary Sanchez (FD-$3,900 / DK-$4,900) – Sanchez has been collecting hits in bunches recently with five multi-hit games in his last eight starts and has a .399 wOBA versus righties this season.
Brett Gardner (FD-$3,900 / DK-$4,100) – Gardner has enjoyed some home cookin’ this season with a .388 wOBA and .247 ISO versus righties at Yankee Stadium.
Matt Holliday (FD-$3,700 / DK-$4,400) – Holliday homered in the Yankees last game and has a .379 wOBA and .257 ISO versus right-handed pitchers this year.

Orioles vs. Josh Tomlin
Tomlin has struggled with right-handed hitters this season allowing a .369 wOBA and 1.47 HR/9. The Orioles feature some strong right-handed bats and will be at home in a game with one of the highest Vegas totals on the slate. Jonathan Schoop and Welington Castillo are also viable options.
Trey Mancini (FD-$3,500 / DK-$4,000) – Mancini has three two-hit games in his last four games including a double, triple and a pair of long balls. He has a .421 wOBA and .311 ISO versus righties this season.
Adam Jones (FD-$3,300 / DK-$4,300) – Jones has owned Tomlin going 10-for-18 with four doubles and a home run off him in his career.
Mark Trumbo (FD-$3,900 / DK-$4,000) – Trumbo appears to be heating up with two homers in his last three games and has a double and a home run off Tomlin in eight career at-bats.
Manny Machado (FD-$3,700 / DK-$3,900) – Machado’s salary is very reasonable (especially on DK) for a hitter with a career .357 wOBA and .226 ISO versus righties at home in his career.

Contrarian Stack

Giants vs. Julio Teheran
Teheran has been brutal when pitching at home in the new Sun Trust ballpark with a 7.25 ERA, .384 wOBA allowed and 2.50 HR/9. He also has a poor track record against the Giants’ hitters allowing a .424 wOBA with just a 10.9% strikeout rate in 110 plate appearances.

Brandon Belt (FD-$2,900 / DK-$3,700) – Belt has a .357 wOBA and .229 ISO versus righties this season and is 7-for-12 (.583) with a double and two homers off Teheran.
Denard Span (FD-$3,100 / DK-$3,600) – Span is batting .328 in June and is 13-for-32 (.406) with two doubles, two triples and a homer off Teheran.
Buster Posey (FD-$3,600 / DK-$4,100) – Posey carries a .400 wOBA versus righties this season and is 7-for-13 (.538) with two homers off Teheran.
Joe Panik (FD-$2,800 / DK-$3,800) – Panik is batting .424 with three doubles and two homers in his last eight games and has a .356 wOBA on the road versus righties this season.
