We did have some shuffling all throughout our MLB Expert Standings especially on the hitter side where Rotowire retook the lead by a smidge. RotoGrinders Consensus continues to find themselves in the top-3 on both the pitcher and hitter side of the coin. We will continue the Consensus for the next week or two before we transition completely into football. Enjoy!

In this article, I will give a brief recap of each day we gathered and graded the experts, including how the Industry Consensus picks did, highlighting which experts were at the top for the day and which players were only called out by one expert, but produced an “A+” grade. We will also review the overall standings and highlight the top experts so far this season. And finally, I will publish results of our Lineup Construction series.

As a reminder, we are currently gathering selections and publishing the MLB Industry Consensus articles and MLB Consensus Lineup Construction articles each Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday during the season, so be sure to check back about an hour or so before the first pitch of the first game to get a look at the consensus picks and sample lineups for the day.

Leaderboard

The top-3 for both pitchers and hitters are below. Check out the full MLB Expert Standings to see how your favorite experts check out.

Pitchers

#1) Daily Overlay – BvP for MVP (Score: 5.12) bumped his score a bit with a nice week. It’s going to be tough to catch Stephen with only a couple weeks remaining.

#2) DailyFantasySportsRankings (Score: 4.93) did see their score jump by .01 but still lags behind the pace that Stephen has set. Still, they have put together a really solid season on the pitcher side of things.

#3) RotoGrinders Consensus (Score: 4.91) did not see their score move at all. They still trail 2nd place by the slimmest of margins.

Hitters

#1) Rotowire (Score: 2.96) made a big jump with a nice 5-day week. They do not have the overall volume of picks due to us only grading them the past month. This can create some volatility from week to week.

#2) DailyRoto (Score: 2.94) did not do anything to hurt themselves this week. They were just jumped based on an outstanding week from Rotowire.

#3) RotoGrinders Consensus (Score: 2.83) once again so no change in their score, just like their pitcher grade. They will look to make a push to get in the top-2.

Consensus Lineup Construction Review

FanDuel continues to put us further in the tank (I apologize for the crap run that I’ve been on these last few weeks). Brad helped us maintain some semblance of knowing what we are doing. He dominated in the Cash format once again this week. Stephen had a solid Tuesday but not much else. The overall season ROI is back in the negative double digits. Not much time left to dig out.

Here is a list of the “rules” we are following when constructing lineups:

  1. Matt will make two separate lineups for FanDuel and Brad will do the same for DraftKings, one for Cash games and one for GPP tournaments. Stephen will now provide a FantasyDraft Cash and GPP lineup for those same days.
  2. For Cash games, we will try to build our entire lineup from the Consensus list using any player listed regardless of what tier they are in. This has proven a bit difficult to get a top-tier pitcher in our lineups by using only Consensus plays. For that reason, we now have tweaked the rules a bit and allow for one off the board play in the Cash game format.
  3. For GPP games, we are allowed to choose up to two players that are not on the Consensus list.
  4. We can modify any lineup as we see fit for any late-breaking news updates that open up good options even if they are not on the Consensus list.

Weekly/Overall Results

FanDuel

Well, at least I avoided another 0-fer week with a Cash game win on Wednesday. It’s been a putrid couple of weeks for me. I honestly don’t even remember the last time my GPP found the money. Here’s to hoping next week will be better.

Day Cash Score Cash Place Profit (Loss) GPP Score GPP Place Profit (Loss) Picks By
Monday 137.6 78/100 ($2.00) 121.6 3,748/5,202 ($2.00) Matt
Tuesday 73.7 96/100 ($2.00) 120.7 5,548/15,028 ($1.00) Matt
Wednesday 150.5 19/100 $1.60 103.1 7,503/11,560 ($1.00) Matt
Friday 132.1 88/100 ($2.00) 168.6 1,895/5,780 ($2.00) Matt

Draftkings

Brad is back on a roll with his Cash game lineups. Similar to the run he made earlier in the season, he’s been money in the bank for the last several weeks. His struggles on the GPP side kept going, however. If he could piece together a couple GPP lineups, he’s really be on a roll.

Day Cash Score Cash Place Profit (Loss) GPP Score GPP Place Profit (Loss) Picks By

Friday 110.9 93/100 ($2.00) 108.15 1,860/2,352 ($1.00) Brad

FantasyDraft

Stephen skipped on Monday due to it being the first day back to school. He started off his week nicely on Tuesday, finding the money with both his Cash and GPP lineup. He struck out for the week after that. He still maintains a solid ROI for the season with his FantasyDraft lineups though.

Day Cash Score Cash Place Profit (Loss) GPP Score GPP Place Profit (Loss) Picks By
Tuesday 131.3 15/114 $1.00 125.9 43/457 $1.50 Stephen
Wednesday 74.6 102/114 ($1.00) 71.6 344/400 ($1.00) Stephen
Friday 120.9 82/114 ($1.00) 120.9 277/457 ($1.00) Stephen

The grid below shows a recap of the results so far this season. As I said above, Stephen maintains a nice positive number on the FantasyDraft side of things and Brad crept even further towards the black with his Cash lineups. Outside of those two positives, it’s been pretty ugly.

Ownership Percentage Tracking

Below is the current table showing the data we have tracked so far this season. Results are using DraftKings Double-Up or 50/50s for Cash and large field multi-entry tournaments for GPP. The Count column shows the number of times a player was selected by the experts for a given day. The Cash % column shows the average ownership percentage of those players in a Cash game. The GPP % column shows the average ownership percentage of those players in a GPP tournament. The Total column shows the number of occurrences that a player was selected that many times.

In addition to the Overall Ownership chart, we have broken down ownership percentage by position for the Cash and GPP. You can find those charts below as well.
